On the account deletion page, you can permanently delete your Instagram account.

You can also deactivate your Instagram account temporarily if you think you might want to recover it later.

To delete or deactivate your Instagram account, you must use a web browser rather than the app.

The difference between the two options is that deleting your Instagram account is permanent, whereas deactivating your account is temporary and allows you to reactivate it later.

To delete or deactivate your Instagram account, you must use a desktop web browser or the web browser on your smartphone. It is not possible to do so through the app.

Here are the steps to follow :-

1. Go to the Instagram website on a desktop or mobile web browser and sign in with your username and password.

2. Go to the account deletion page after you've logged in.

3. Select your reason for deleting your account from the drop-down menu at the top of the screen.

4. After you've selected your reason for deletion, you'll be prompted to re-enter your password. After that, click the blue "Delete [Account Name]" button.

5. Instagram says it will take a month for your data to be completely erased. Your account will simply be hidden from public view until that time.

Simply log back into the Instagram app with your username and password to reactivate your account in the future.
